Gout with Heart/Blood Vessel Risk Factors

Gout is a common, painful form of arthritis.  It causes swollen, red, hot and stiff joints*.  If you have been diagnosed with Gout and also have a history of heart/blood vessel risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attack or stroke, you may be eligible to participate in this clinical research study.  The study is designed to evaluate the heart/blood vessel safety of an FDA approved medication for gout.

Study involves about 11 visits to our clinic in the first year, and then only once every 6 months for the next 4 years up to approximately 5 years.

Basic Entry Qualifications:

*  Adult males ages 50 or older

* Adult females ages 55 or older

* Diagnosed with Gout (confirmed diagnosis)

* History of Heart/Blood Vessel Risk Factors including:

  1. *Heart Attack
  2. *Stroke
  3. *Peripheral Vascular Disease
  4. *Diabetes

Participants who qualify will receive study-related care, lab tests, and study medication at no charge.  Participants may also be reimbursed for transportation expenses.
